Gloria Estrada, a lifelong resident of Boyle Heights, is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated group, La Santa Cecilia, and part of a small group of professional female guitarists. She learned to play the guitar in a high school guitar class; by the end of the semester she realized she had only learned 8 chords. Knowing there was so much more for her to learn, Gloria spent her weekends at downtown LA’s Central Library, downloading and printing music to teach herself. She later attended Pasadena City College and then graduated from USC with a BA in music; she is the first person in her family to attend college.

Gloria teaches private guitar lessons but has also taught lessons to community members at local churches. She teaches in both English and Spanish, to all levels and ages.
