Palee Moua is a well-known Hmong leader in the community. For the past 14 years, she has developed many programs including the development of the Hmong language proficiency test, as well as a variety of health and mental health education programs. She has developed cultural competency training for health and mental health providers. Ms. Moua has been an active advocate for policy changes allowing for the inclusion of traditional Hmong medicine to be administered by shamans as part of a dual system of health treatment at Mercy Hospital. Palee Moua has also coached and taught young Hmong people proverbs, idioms, metaphors, symbolism, and other Hmong language expressions. She is a board member of SEA-APA (Southeast Asian American Professional Association).
